Net Metering for Commercial Customers in Mauritius
IET – International Energy Transition GmbH advised policymakers and utilities in Mauritius on net metering for commercial customers. The project consisted of an analysis of the existing net metering design for medium-scale distributed generation (MSDG). IET provided a critical review of the existing net metering design for the commercial sector, focusing on fixed charges and plant size cap. This review was furthermore complemented by a comprehensive analysis of all other net metering design features. The report also provided further insights into rate design considerations related to (commercial) self-consumption and necessary quantitative assessments of the cost and benefits of distributed PV generation in the Mauritian electricity system. The study was commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities in Mauritius and financed by the Clean Energy Solution Center.
