Renewable energy policy workshop in Azerbaijan

Dr. Jacobs delivered a 2-day workshop on the creation of a legal framework for the promotion of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan. The workshop, which took place in Baku, was organised by the OSCE and targeted decision makers from the Presidential Administration, Cabinet of Ministers, different ministries, the Parliament Committee, SOCAR, and Azerenergy. The workshop covered a variety of policy related issues, including the comparison of different RE support mechanisms (FITs, RPS, auctions), detailed feed-in tariff design and calculation tools and non-economic barriers and grid connection policies. Finally, Dr. Jacobs suggested certain principles and guidelines to follow for drafting a renewable energy policy in Azerbaijan.
