Understanding the German Energiewende
IET - International Energy Transition GmbH contributed to a report titled “Understanding the Energiewende – Frequently asked questions on the ongoing transition of the German electricity system” commissioned and published by Agora Energiewende. Dr. Jacobs co-authored the report and analysed the historic background of the German energy transition and elaborated on currently debated issues, i.e. integration costs of renewable energy sources, costs for households and industry, the benefits of the Energiewende (e.g. job creation and reduced carbon emissions), the impact of wind and solar on spot markets, German CO2 emission targets, and others. In addition, the interaction with EU policies was analysed.
